You must possess the Basic Requirements identified below to be considered for all Ecologist and Soil Scientist positions. Degree:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree that included a major field of study in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included a major field of study in biology, or a related field of science underlying ecological research that included at least at least 30 semester hours in basic and applied biological sciences. These hours must have included at least 9 semester ours in ecology, and 12 semester hours in physical and mathematical sciences. Soil Science GS-0470:
Degree:
Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelors or higher degree that included a major field of study in Soil Scientist or a closely related discipline that included 30 semester hours or equivalent in biological, physical, or earth science, with a minimum of 15 semester hours in such subject as soil genesis, pedology, soil chemistry, soil physics, and soil fertility. or Combination of education and
Experience:
courses equivalent to a major in soil science or related discipline that included at least 30 semester hours in the biological, physical, or earth sciences. At least 15 of these semester hours must have been in the areas specified in above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the basic qualifications, you must possess the specialized experience and/or graduate education listed below. Your application, transcripts and/or resume must clearly show that you possess the specialized experience or education requirements. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has quipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-11:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 9 level. Specialized experience at this level is defined as having 52 weeks of all of the following:
Managing aquatic and terrestrial ecological data and programming and maintaining environmental sensors and equipment; Performing statistical analyses and quality assurance and quality control on data collected; Analyzing and integrating techniques associated with database management, statistical analysis and image processing. OR Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with (coursework directly related to the position being filled) in fields such as advanced biostatistics (multiple regression, generalized linear models, mixed models, multivariate analysis; course in R or SAS or Python); environmental microbiology; mycology; molecular methods for environmental science or ecology; biogeochemistry or upper level soil chemistry; ecosystem science and field methods for ecosystem science; and natural resource bioinformatics. OR Have a combination of graduate level education (beyond 36 semester hours) and specialized experience (equivalent to at least the GS-9 level) that is directly related to this position that together meets the qualification requirements for this position. Acceptable fields of study include research areas related to the work of the position involving advanced biostatistics (multiple regression, generalized linear models, mixed models, multivariate analysis; course in R or SAS or Python); environmental microbiology; mycology; molecular methods for environmental science or ecology; biogeochemistry or upper level soil chemistry; ecosystem science and field methods for ecosystem science; and natural resource bioinformatics. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. This requirement must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
